Settings for comments and trackbacks, spam filters, the number of comments displayed, etc. can all be edited and this article will explain how.

First, go to Settings > Blog Settings > Comment Settings / Trackback Settings.

Comment Settings

Make sure that you have added the Latest Comments plugin before changing the following settings.
To add the plugin go to Plugins > Add FC2 Plugins > Latest Comments and click Add.

Display the Latest Comments

This will be the number and order of the newest comments displayed for your plugin. The numbers and order can be found in the variable called .

Display the Comment List

The display order of comments for each entry.

Approval Settings

Here you can choose to only display comments after being approved.
Comment approval, deletion, etc. can be done from the Comment screen found by clicking on Comments under Home.

Auto Link

Choose whether to link URLs that are posted in comments. By choosing "Do Nothing" the URL will not be linked and only displayed as text.
*HTML cannot be written in the comment window.

Private Comments

First select whether you want to accept private comments and if you do this function allows the administrator to see private comments made to them via their control panel.

Display Private Comments

Choose whether to let the sender of a private message know whether their private comment reached you or not.
If you choose not to, the poster of the private comment may continue to send you the same comments.

Sender

This is what will be displayed when a poster does not write their name for a comment.

Sender Information

By enabling "Save sender's information to a cookie", the poster's name and comment will be saved to a cookie and used to automatically fill out future comments. This information will be overwritten if the comment is different.

Cookie information can be read on all of FC2 Blog's services. If you make a comment another FC2 Blog, the name and URL that you used will be recorded.

Comment Confirmation Settings

Enabling this setting means that a confirmation window will be displayed when posting a comment.

Add a CAPTCHA (image for verification) as an effective way of blocking spam comments by robots. By enabling CAPTCHA, a poster will have to enter the 4 digits in the CAPTCHA first before being able to post their comment.

Display Latest Trackbacks

This will be the number and order of the newest trackbacks displayed for your plugin. The numbers and order can be found in the variable called . You can use the numbers 1 - 99 when changing order or numbers.
*Be aware that entries with trackbacks will not be displayed in the plugin if you change the corresponding settings to "Do not accept trackbacks".

Display the Trackback List

The display order of trackbacks for each entry.

Approval Settings

Here you can choose to only display trackbacks after being approved.
Trackback approval, deletion, etc. can be done from the Trackback screen found by clicking on Trackback under Home.

Display Awaiting Message

This is the message that will be displayed while a trackback awaits approval. If you leave this blank, the user who left the trackback will not be able to see if the trackback was sent and may send multiple trackbacks.

Trackbacks can link entries to other entries with similar content. As a means of avoiding trackback spam from unrelated entries, you can choose to not accept trackback links from unrelated sites with this setting.

Adult

You can choose to block trackbacks from FC2 Blogs that are registered as having adult content. This option will not prevent trackbacks from blogs that are not registered as having adult content.

* Blogs that have adult content but are not registered as being adult blogs will be in violation of the FC2 Blog Terms of Use and may be frozen.

Please be sure to press Update once you have finished adjusting your settings. Your new settings will not take effect until Update is pressed.
